Mosiname Hoping His Team is Back
Pitso Mosimane once mentioned that the pressure of playing for is immense because you are expected to win every game. Knowing when to win is what separates great teams from the ones, well defending Absa Premiership Champions Mamelodi Sundowns know when to win as they demonstrated against Lamontville Golden Arrows.
Monday’s games seemed like a make or break for the Brazilians, when Pitso Mosimane’s side needed to show off their championship, they delivered. The team’s cohesiveness and camaraderie were evident when they all joined in to celebrate Themba Zwane’s stoppage time winner; even Pitso Mosimane and his backroom ran the line to enjoy the occasion with players; as that might have been the teams most important goal of their season. The match was important, needed to be won, the three points won in Dobsonville take Bafana Ba Style within three points of log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
‘Football under Covid -19’ has been difficult for the Chloorkop side, as they have struggled to find their groove but the win from Monday was their re-emergence according to the man at the helm.
“Very emotional game for us, very difficult but we were patient. The last five to ten minutes I saw Sundowns playing, I hope my team is back; the last minutes, that was Mamelodi Sundowns playing,” said Mosimane during a post-match virtual press conference.
He further went on to applaud the substitutes who contributed towards the fluidity of the team going forward as they were trying to break down a well-structured Golden Arrows side. “Good mentality from the substitutes who came on, three important players; players that always win games for us, Sibusiso Vilakazi, Themba Zwane, and Lebogang Maboe.”
Thursday top of the table clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs is one mouth-watering prospect, many have billed it as the title decider but Mosimane has played down those thoughts.
“I don’t think Thursdays game is a title decider, the way I know this thing; sometimes the title decider might in the last match. We might not even win against Chiefs; of course, we want to win to make everything correct but mathematically the league is not won on Thursday,” concluded Mosimane.
