A Weeks Break Welcomed by Da Gama
Highlands Park head coach Owen Da Gama has emphasised welcoming the weeks break before their next fixture.
Since the resumption of the league Highlands Park, have played three games drawing all three and scoring two goals. Speaking after his sides recent draw against Polokwane City is relishing the breather afforded to them.
“We have played three games in eight days, and it takes a toll. At least we have a week before we play again, it’s the same for all the teams; we can’t complain about it. But we need to understand how to manage the situation and that is the tricky part; we have to try and manage our players,” said Da Gama.
As the players are still working towards peak match conditioning, Da Gama has stressed about the importance of managing the players as they are drained by the intense football.
“It’s been 14 months since we started with our preseasons and its important, we try and manage these players as best as possible. We have to give others an opportunity and get fresher legs in, and see how far we can go. The players are tired indeed.”
The Lions of The North return to action against Maritzburg United on Saturday 29 August.
