DHL Stormers and Emirates Lions Ready for Battle
The DHL Stormers and Emirates Lions will face off in the Super Fan Saturday clash at Loftus Versveld on Saturday.
The two sides met earlier in the year during the opening rounds of the Super Rugby; the DHL Stormers defeated the men from Johannesburg thanks to a late Rhuan Nel try, in what was a thrilling game.
This weekend’s match will give coaches John Dobson and Ivan van Rooyen the opportunity to look at their sides ahead of the return of competitive rugby and get insight to what the new recruits can offer.
DHL Stormers Head Coach John Dobson said that there is plenty of excitement among the squad to finally get back onto the field and pull the jersey on.
“It has been a while for everyone, players coaches and our fans are all hungry for rugby, so we cannot wait to get there and take the next step as we build towards the new competition which kicks off next month.
Everyone has worked very hard to get to this point and while it will be great to see our high-profile players out on the pitch, we are also looking forward to seeing some new faces and seeing how they go against a quality Emirates Lions side,” he said.
Meanwhile for the Emirates Lions Elton Jantjies is retained as captain in a side that sees a host of old stalwarts combined with a some of the new faces in the Lions fold like Jaco Visagie, Burger Odendaal, Sibahle Maxwane, Divan Russouw and EW Viljoen to name but a few.
