Jaguars derby win highlight of the day…

The WC Tornadoes have been the tournament’s surprise act. With only two games to go before the finale, they calmly went about their business and managed to win the pole position in Division B.

Their coach Danlee Mathews alluded that their performances are due to the team’s togetherness, with everyone pitching in.

“I told the girls that we need to stay focus on our game. I gave the young ones an opportunity in the first quarter today just to see where they are mentally and from a conditioning type pf view and others stepped up and others didn’t. I had to put some of the seniors on to consolidate and come back from behind” she said.

In the Juksei River derby, when they defeated the Fireballs 47-32, the Jaguars again asserted bragging rights.

“You need to keep the best for last. So, we need to keep them as fresh as possible. This is a very tough tournament.” Jaguars coach Jenny speaking about her team’s strategy and post-match analysis.

In Division B, the Kingdom Queens proved to be the thriving underdogs, they have come from behind to cause an upset for the second day in a row. After trailing behind almost the entire game, they beat the Baobabs 39-37.

Coach Magda du Plessis addresses the overall success of her squad, “This is a great tournament and a lot of my players are young. The stress gets to them. But I think as a team they’ve picked up consistency and they’ve got a wonderful fighting spirit till the end”, she said.

After beating NW Flames, Free State Crinums battled hard today to retain its top-four spot. Their victory sees them as the Stings leapfrog who played a game less.

“Its’s important for us when they are on a roll, just to break their rhythm with different bodies onto the court and it works”,
