Lions travel to Kimberly to face Griquas
The Xerox Lions travel to Kimberley to do battle with the Tafel Lager Griquas for the kick-off of the 2020 Carling Currie Cup on Saturday 28 November.
The Lions have had a stop-start return to rugby their Super Rugby Unlocked campaign was one to forget, as it was a nightmare. Losses against the Sharks, Stormers and Bulls, added two called off due to Covid-19 protocols. They only had one win which against the weekend’s opponents.
Jaco Kriel, who has been out of the team because of personal issues, has returned to the starting berth; he joins the loose trio with Len Massyn and Vincent Tshituka. Willem Alberts will form a formidable lock partnership with Marvin Orie and, the backline remains the same with just EW Viljoen replacing the injured Gianni Lombard.
Roelof Smith can get his first run this season if he gets the nod from the bench.
Elton Jantjies retains the captaincy for the Currie Cup.
