SA Rugby Jittery on Social Ills
With resumption of rugby set this upcoming weekend, SA Rugby when asked by Four Sports if they will be supporting the causes that are against social ills my messages or gestures, they remained jittery.
Since worldwide sports resumed, we have seen support for the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement by athletes, taking a knee calling for social justice, moment of silences for those have lost their lives due to the coronavirus, and standing ovations for frontline workers who fought well and hard against the coronavirus.
In South Africa we are faced with social ills like Gender Based Violence, Inequality, Racism, Poverty, and Farm Murders, plus being one of the affected nations by the Coronavirus pandemic.
“We believe that our best contribution is by giving hope through performance and showing South Africa that we really are stronger when we are together,” said a SA Rugby spokesperson.
