Springboks participation in the Rugby Championship not Certain
Although the schedule of the Rugby Championship has been released, the participation of the Springboks is yet to be decided.
“South Africa’s participation remains conditional on the relaxation of the government’s current ban on international sporting participation and the outcome of assessments of high performance and player welfare,” said SA Rugby in a media release.
Should the Springboks take part, they will get the opportunity t defend their title and will kick of their campaign against Argentina on Saturday 7Novermber and the following weekend take on Australia. Then they will face off in back to back games against New Zealand, followed by return legs against Australia and Argentina, concluding on the 12th December.
Rugby in South Africa is set to restart this weekend and the conditioning and match fitness of the players is not at the standard of international rugby, while hosts Australia and their neighbors New Zealand have been at if for a while.
