Kitshoff and Vermeulen embracing new and old face in Boks camp

Steven Kitshoff and Duane Vermeulen within the Springboks camp finds himself as a senior player, and they are embracing the new and old faces that have showed up for the Castle Larger Springbok Showdown camp.

The likes of Evan Roos, Pepsi Bhuthelezi, Bernard van der Linde, Mnombo Zwelindaba, Muller Uys, Fez Mbatha, Emile van Heerden and many more have been deemed as the ‘Young Guns’, drawn from the ranks of the Junior Springboks, were drafted to be part of the Green and Gold squads for this weekend’s game.

The main objective for this camp according to the SA Rugby Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus is for the new guys to understand the culture of the Springboks and World Cup winning Prop, Kitshoff is happy with how the young players have integrated themselves to the Bok systems or way of doing things.

“There are a lot of new faces but they are adjusting very nicely. There are a of information coming through and a lot of detail they need to learn.

They are all willing to learn and work hard. There are some talented youngsters that played over the weekend who are in the at the moment. Its energetic and awesome to see them get an opportunity, hopefully they display some talent and good skills this weekend,” said Kitshoff in a virtual press conference.

 Springbok Veteran Duane Vermeulen, who is part of team Green shared the same sentiments as Kitshoff.

“There are a lot of youngsters that got selected, they can go out and display their skills on a bigger platform and can maybe get a nod in the future when we get together as the Springboks squad.”

In the camp there are guys who have been in the Springbok fold, and the Bulls captain believes that they still have plenty to offer in the national setup.

“There are guys who have been in the fold before, coming back and getting another opportunity. It would be nice for the coaches to see what the guys have and if they still have that burning desire to play for the Springboks,” concluded Vermeulen.
